The time has come when leaves on trees have started changing their colors and thoughts are hovering in your mind to capture that perfect family portrait. What you have visualized may differ from what your photographer would capture, thus affecting the final image.

Here are some easy tips and tricks so that your family portrait this year can be a perfect one that you would be proud showing off to all:

1. Choose the Correct Outfits

To get a perfect family portrait, it is not essential to wear identical outfits. Different clothes in similar color tones may help in creating an appealing picture. All of you should be dressed well from your head to toe. Sandals and white socks is a terrible idea. Your family photograph may show your feet too. You should also include suspenders or belts. Select appropriate jewelry for the photo session including bracelets and watches.

Finally, ladies need to be conscious about their necklines. If  you feel conscious about your cleavage or arms, do not wear tank tops, spaghetti straps or dresses with plunging necklines for your photo session. Darker colors are more slimming in general.

2. Select an appropriate time for taking pictures

Your photographer may recommend the best times for lighting, but you need to consider the best time for your family portrait, especially if there are small kids in the house. Avoid taking the photo during your kid’s nap time can prevent issues. Children should be fed before taking pictures. Try to avoid scheduling the photo before dinner. When a child is hungry, he or she tends to be grumpy. Even adults who are hungry may be irritable for that matter. Taking a leisurely lunch hour or leaving early from office can be good options for the best time to shoot that perfect family photograph.

3. Select a photographer whose style Matches You

Look out for a photographer who is an expert in photographing families. Make sure the style of the photos is compatible with your look. Before selecting a photographer, ensure that his portfolio is appealing and interesting. Read reviews and testimonials from existing clients on places like Yelp or Google. One of the things about our style that is different than others is the crops. 8×10’s and 5×7’s are not our style.
